In today’s world, I believe we are greatly exposed to all types of harmful chemicals that exist in food items, personal care products and even in the environment. But to what extent are they harmful to us, we don’t really know for sure. I received this article about some of the harmful ingredients found in many products that have become our daily essentials.

Whether they are really that toxic remains to be seen. This article has no doubt painted the worst case scenario of the consequences of using these products, but it is still worthwhile to be in the know that if we consume something excessively, we may just be exposed to many health risks.

Anybody that takes Vitamin C (and most people should) avoid the following soft drinks: Sunkist, Fanta, Diet Coke, Sprite, and Pepsi Max. These drinks contain Sodium Benzoate 211 on the label. A chemical reaction between Vitamin C and Sodium Benzoate creates Benzine, a highly Carcinogenic chemical (story by Channel 9).

Benzine has the ability to severely damage the DNA in the Mitochondria to the point that it totally inactivates it, knocks it out altogether. The Mitochondria consumes oxygen to give you energy, and if you damage it, then the cell starts to malfunction very seriously, often fatally, a whole array of diseases has been tied to the damage to the DNA, including Parkinson’s Disease and quite a lot of neuro-degenerative diseases.

This is a follow-up of all the TV station’s story on Mentos and Diet Coke. Don’t mix these two either, they cause a chemical reaction (explosion) in the stomach, it’s not only Mentos but also any mint products. Mint Life Savers, Tic Tacs, Cool Mint’s, etc, the mint is not the culprit here but the Aspartame in the diet drinks, 951 on the label, and also the 950 Acelsultame F are. Aspartame poisoning has been scientifically linked to 92 symptoms of disease.

Most European countries have forbidden the importing and use in their country of Aspartame including all makes of Saccharin, (examples: Equal, Nutra-Sweet, Spoonful and Diet Drinks), including 6,000 consumer goods and beverages, sold on the supermarket shelves. This ban affects all use of this product in any type of consumable infringement and will carry penalties that go from 9.000 Euros to 90,000 Euros.

Mexico is also considering banning all 6,000 products of Aspartame on its supermarket shelves. In Mexico, Aspartame is known as Rumsfeld’s Disease, after George Bush’s mate Donald Rumsfeld. The Nutra-Sweet company and Searle are owned by Monsanto who appointed Rumsfeld as their General Manager, so they could use his clout with Parliament to get this deadly poison passed by the FDA and boost their sales of Aspartame.

Avoid all toothpastes made in China, especially Colgate as they contain ethylene glycol. This is an anti-freezing agent that is highly toxic and even fatal — it destroys the liver, kidney, lung, blood cells, heart and the nervous system. It is also in some mouth washes, make-up, aftershave, baby powder and wipes, shampoo, and deodorants.

Avoid Smarties; they contain almost every toxic artificial colour on the market. The worst are 102, 104, and the worst of all 110 Carcinogenic, 124 undesirable, 127 carcinogenic, 128 extreme caution, 129,131, and 133 are also carcinogenic. To top it off Smarties are not even made of chocolate (neither are Tim Tams). Synthetic chocolate has no nutritional food value whatsoever.

In the event that you are unfortunate enough to be trapped in a faulty and falling lift, here are some tips that can help you to survive the fall. These survival tips are very simple yet has good logic to help minimise injuries during an accident like this.

How to survive a falling lift:

1. Quickly press all the different levels of buttons in the lift.
2. Hold on tight to the handle (if there is any).
3. Lean your back and head against the wall forming a straight line.
4. Bend your knees

Reasons for following the above 4 steps to survive a falling lift:

Point 1 – When the emergency electricity supply is being activated it will stop the lift from falling further.
Point 2 – It is to support your position and prevent you from falling or getting hurt when you lose your balance.
Point 3 – Leaning against the wall gives you support for your back/spine as a protection.
Point 4 – The ligament is a flexible, connective tissue. Bending the knees can help to reduce the impact of fractured bones, which will minimise severe pressure during a fall.

How to survive a falling lift

In my previous post about soy milk making boys gay, I said I’ll post about the danger of water, so here it is.

It’s not a rumour, there have been real cases of people who died because they drank too much water. In these cases, the victims drank a lot of water in a very short period of time, resulting in water intoxication in the body that led to their death.

How this happens is explained by these few easy to understand paragraph:

In humans the kidneys control the amount of water, salts and other solutes leaving the body by sieving blood through their millions of twisted tubules. When a person drinks too much water in a short period of time, the kidneys cannot flush it out fast enough and the blood becomes waterlogged. Drawn to regions where the concentration of salt and other dissolved substances is higher, excess water leaves the blood and ultimately enters the cells, which swell like balloons to accommodate it.

Most cells have room to stretch because they are embedded in flexible tissues such as fat and muscle, but this is not the case for neurons. Brain cells are tightly packaged inside a rigid boney cage, the skull, and they have to share this space with blood and cerebrospinal fluid, explains Wolfgang Liedtke, a clinical neuroscientist at Duke University Medical Center. “Inside the skull there is almost zero room to expand and swell,” he says.

Thus, brain edema, or swelling, can be disastrous. “Rapid and severe hyponatremia causes entry of water into brain cells leading to brain swelling, which manifests as seizures, coma, respiratory arrest, brain stem herniation and death,” explains M. Amin Arnaout, chief of nephrology at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School.

So for sports people out there, do take note not to over flush your body with water thinking that you are perspiring a lot more than your water intake! For anyone else who has any reason to down lots of water, you also should take note not to drink excessively.

Drinking too much water can kill you

This isn’t exactly a tip of any kind, just some information to share. I read recently that Google searches are costly to the environment. Here’s a paragraph taken from the above titled news article:

While millions of people tap into Google without a thought for the environment, a typical search generates about 7g of CO2. Boiling a kettle generates about 15g.

This stems from the belief that Google uses very high energy consumption to keep its servers in a state of high performance at all times. The more we use Google’s search engine, the more Google needs to upkeep its performance to meet our demands.

But then again I believe it’s not just Google that needs high power consumption to run its business effectively. Many other companies do, it’s just that they are probably not as high key and talked about as Google.

So whatever it is, I do think that we should give Google a break.

Did you know that an online search can affect the environment?

My cousin sent me some health tips to follow for a healthier lifestyle in our current times. Some of these tips are common and makes much sense whilst others may require some explanation as to why they are healthier ways of life. I have no answers to them, but it’s good to know anyway.

Here are some of these health tips to a healthier lifestyle.

• Answer the phone by left ear – anyone knows the theory of this?
• Do not drink coffee twice a day.
• Do not take pills with cool water.
• Do not have huge meals after 5pm.
• Reduce the amount of oily food you consume.
• Drink more water in the morning, less at night.
• Keep your distance from hand phone chargers.
• Do not use headphones/earphone for a long period of time.
• Best sleeping time is from 10pm at night to 6am in the morning.
• Do not lie down immediately after taking medicine before sleeping – again, anyone knows why this is?
• When the phone battery is down to the last grid/bar, do not answer the phone as the radiation is 1000 times greater.
